Female

wingspan : female 31 mm

there are two similar looking species of Stichella/Pirascca : iasis, known from the Eastern slopes of the Andes (1000/1600 m) in Ecuador and Peru*, and sagaris, a low elevation species which seems to fly from the Guyanas to SE Brasil with several subspecies.

the male pictured by Andrew Neild at Guaguayme looks clearly iasis.

but for the female from the INABIO collection (West of Zamora) we can only assume it could be iasis as we've never seen a female iasis ! this butterfly looks pretty much like sagaris females but with one key difference : the FW yellow stripe does not reach the outer margin, when on all sagaris females illustrated on BoA it does reach the margin at the tornus.

* and also in Western Colombia as evidenced by David Geale's picture taken on the Montezuma road  https://www.flickr.com/photos/138419749@N05/24175937340/in/album-72157661361658074/
