wingspan : 38/42 mm

Racta dalla, road from Gualaceo to Plan de Milagro, Eastern slope.

Racta dalla is said to be extremely scarce a species - no more than five known specimens - but there is a doubt. Racta dalla lives at 2500/3000 meters, in places where bad weather is the rule : clouds, rain, wind and cold, and to fly it needs sun.

we think it is not a rare butterfly but a species that seldom flies in rarely visited and very specific places.

it is worth noting that all specimens collected at rio Ashilan in Sangay NP, and on the road from Gualaceo to Plan de Milagro are definitely black and yellow, when those collected at the Loja/Zamora border are clearly black and ivory.
